Hello

My partner is looking for a good tablet for drawing and animation.
We know absolutely nothing about these tablets, and would love some info on what to get.
someone Recommend a xp-pen Artist15.6 graphics drawing tablet https://www.amazon.com.au/XP-Pen-Artist15-6-Graphics-Battery-free-15-6/dp/B077XX26ZS

We’ll be running on Windows 10 64bit.
We’re looking for something around 6x8 or 12x9. Size is dependable, it’s more quality and features we’re looking for.
We would use it for casual/semi professional use.

We’ll be ordering from either Amazon or somewhere local .(we live in Sydney , Australia )

We are looking for an active display.

Feel free to ask other questions.
Thanks.

Hi there,

I have to detail views on my layout plus I am using shaded mode. The object is drawn in 3D and I don’t intend to use Make2D for my layouts.
In top view the wires are not displayed, but in front view - although both details use the same settings. For further explanation I attached some shematic sketches. Which setting am I missing?

Thanks a lot!

In the file below, running MeshOutline from the top view fails. If you run it from other views it succeeds.

Also, Rhino tells me it’s a bad mesh, that it has 9 too short edges; but it can’t repair them (_MeshRepair has not improved much since V4…) Magics tells me that the mesh is OK.

Hello All,

When I saved my model from Spaceclaim to Rhino 5 I get the following “issue”.
Some surfaces are transparent as you can see in the screenshot below.

Both surfaces are in the same layer, not SetObjectDisplayMode has been used.
Any idea why this is happening?

Didn’t think I’d be writing for this kind of help. But anyway. I bought the Rhino6 upgrade. So I’ve got a License Key. But I can’t seem to get it into the Rhino6 I’ve got on my computer. Seems silly I know. Should I uninstall the Rhino6 I’ve been evaluating and install the version I downloaded after buying the upgrade? Help?

How To Ideas

@AdamBBLee wrote:

I’ve been asked to do something new to me now I’m kind of wonder what would be the work flow that would let me accomplish it, assuming is even doable…

So I have this 3D scale model of a cruise ship and now my task is to take the hull artwork from photos like on attached sample and transfer it onto scale model in order to create color decals that later would be printed out and eventually applied to scale replica.

My rough idea is first to unroll hull sides into flat pattern, than take available photos to Corel photo-paint and straighten them out there, next overlay this photo over 2D hull outline and from then on try and isolate hull artwork proper from the rest of the ship…

This might work but I’m wondering whether something more efficient has been already tried and tested… ? Any suggestions most appreciated.

Hi RMA team, I’m running Version 6 (6.3.18090.471, 03/31/18) and I continue to experience very weak, sometimes not even working snapping. Mostly happening at end Osnap but maybe that’s because that’s what I use the most. Are you aware of this problem?

Hi RMA,

I’m trying to extend a surface so I can have its edge way passed the intersection here. Instead it adds a second surface starting at the same original edge location. This seems broken. Or is there a new option/setting that I’m missing?

Saved the file out of V6 as a V5 and opened in V5 and this plane shows up that seems like a floor for shading as it is not a surface or object. Tried the file on two different computers running the same version of V5 and still the same mystery plane. My thought is that it is some rendering appearance or texture that was attached in V6…

Is there a way to show objects/lines behind a glass polysurface when doing Make2D?

I would like to know if there’s a way to show objects and their lines that would be behind glass when doing Make2D. An example is attached, where I want to show the lines outlining the glass that technically appear behind the front surface. Make 2D handles glass like it does any other polysurface, which makes sense, but I want to know if there’s a way around this. I could check the box for show hidden lines but this is only a small part of my project, and deleting the rest of the hidden lines would be next to impossible. https://imgur.com/a/Mphz3

Rhino 6 Drape command

@jeremy5 wrote:

I tried the Drape command for the first time today. My expectation was that something would drape over objects like a tablecloth drapes over a table. What I got was a mesh that “draped” under the surfaces (like the tablecloth is embedded within the table). I assumed this was a bug until I read the command help which seems to say it is intentional. But if intentional, it seems to defeat the object of a drape, so I’m left wondering whether Drape can ever be useful. Is this a bug or intentional?

Extruding a surface of an object again / extruding more than one time

@cankatdonmez wrote:

Hi everyone,

I checked this issue but i couldnt find a proper solution. I was just wondering if there is way to keep working on the extrusion like in SketchUp. For example lets think we draw a closed curve and via ExtrudeCrv command we make an extrusion. But after a while when i want to extrude it again or even extrude a different surface of the 3D object i cant find a way to do it and i start to draw it from the beginning or explode it and choose a surface and do my extrusion and try to join all them again. That work amazing in SketchUp if there is a similar way would be nice to know how!

thx in advance and cheers

Easy Feature Request: Join Input Curves For _CurveThroughPolyline Command

$

@EricM wrote:

This is simple but a game changer. I’m praying someone can slip this into the next service release.

On the _CurveThroughPolyline command, I’m asking for an option to _Join input curves. Currently, if you select two deg1 curves with 7 control points (deg1/7) and ask for a _ControlPoint deg3 curve, you get two deg3/7 curves. History is enabled for this command, so any changes to the parent deg1/7 curves are reflected in the deg3/7 children. Here is an example of the current functionality using deg1/3 curves that are quad mirrored:

The requested _Join option would take the two deg1/7 curves and look for coincidental endpoints. If one coincident is found it creates a single open deg3/13 curve. If two are found, it creates a single closed deg3/12 curve. If none are found, it works as normal.

This is the simplest way to achieve another useful history enabled curve symmetry tool. Here is the same deg1/3 control curve pictured above if the proposed _Join option existed. The edits to a single parent deg1/3 could then propagate through a number of children created by mirrors, arrays, etc. to update a single deg3/11 grandchild curve:

Hi, I would like to know the proper approach for blending 2 curves creating a connecting curve with a maximum definied high or passing trough a definied point. The apex of the arc should have a maximum high of “x” from the ground like working with catenarys . I tried to scale 1d afterwards the blend but I think it´s wrong

I upgraded to v6 at the weekend. All went well but I’ve noticed that the curve toolbar that used to appear with a long press on the Control Point Curve button (in the main toolbar) no longer appears. The little grey expand triangle is still there so I assume it should show - is this a know bug and if so how do I fix it?

Thanks.
