Hi, I was generating some make 2ds which includes annotations such as dimensions, text and leaders.
Everything was going perfect until now that is not generating the leaders in the make 2d. I tried already everything that comes to my mind, but nothing seems to help. I think perhaps is a bug of the new update, I was able to generate it last month without any problem.
Is this happening to anyone else, or does anyone know how to fix it?
What is the best method to import files from Fusion 360?
I have tried a couple of file formats and IGS gives me the cleanest file so far, however, the bodies that were there in Fusion 360 (as solids) are not imported as closed polysurfaces when I import by individual elements. Did I miss something? Or is there an alternative method which allows me to keep the individual bodies intact upon import?
I was testing a few models for display speed comparison and found that some were terribly slow due to edge softening. V7 doesn’t seem to suffer from this anymore. Would be nice if this fix can be backported to v6
I discovered (actually knew about this a long time ago) that i have two Rhinoceros Forum accounts, one in italian and one in english.
I can access to both of them with the same e-mail and password but in the english one i can’t modify the name or e-mail while in the italian one i can. I already contacted the italian assistence and asked him if he could delete my english account but he said that he can’t do more than cancel the italian one. I also realized that the Rhino 7 WIP is downloadable only from the english forum so i was thinking about keeping the english one and deleting the italian one, but if i do so i wouldn’t be able to change the account info. Is there a way to change the account info in the english account so that i can use it instead of the italian one?
Rhino has some really good scripts for assigning colors to many objects, is it possible to have an option when using Rendered and Raytraced to use the underlying assigned object color with a material?
Example: Using the ProgressiveColorRange.py script for assigning colors I’ve done it here, displaying in shaded mode:
Here’s a Rendered mode workaround. As a workaround to allow color to be shown in Rendered mode I used [SetObjectDisplayMode] for the colors to “Shaded” and tweak Isocurve display.
Here’s Raytraced mode with default plastic material assigned. Is it possible to have an option to use the underlying assigned object color for the material color assignment so that scripts like above are most useful and efficient?
As the title says…well I don’t know if it’s a “good” idea or a symptom of something else but it would in an instant fix a huge portion of the hassle I have using History.
I want to clean up my layers and therefore select a layer and press select objects. If i get no objects added to selection i presume there is nothing on this layer but when i press delete layer rhino says i have several visible and hidden objects on this layer.
How is this possible or am i missing something?
When I double click on Rhino or any 3dm files, nothing happens. Program does not start, there are no tasks related to rhino in the task manager. Tried reinstalling v6.22, updating windows, installed an older version 6.16, none of it works. Even running as administrator does start anything…
I am trying to remake or persuade my company to abandon autodesk or bentley solutions due to their financially unsustainable licencing policy and opt for Rhinos (potentially some 100-200+ licences), which is far cheaper and gets the same job done.
For our specific or general workflow in civil engineering there are minor drawbacks when using Rhino but at the same time i find them really easy things to implement with huge benefits.
I am currently designing one object on a new railway line which is 30km long.
Surveying and other base stuff are separate models which are usually huge in file size or extent.
For the workflow purposes it is really important to be able to attach external files on the fly and clip their boundaries to managable extent so the model does not get too huge to work with.
Real life example:
I am attaching 60mb .dgn surveying file as underlayer for the design process.
Problem n.1: Importing takes lot of time in order of minutes - i dont know if it is matter of optimization or it can not be further improved due to some technical limits with dgn conversion
Problem n.2: There is no real way to clip attached file to some extent. Working on object which is within 500m but the attached file´s extent is 30km, its simply not possible (extreme lags and freezes).
We are on the cross road now. I would really love Rhino as the main instrument in our firm but these are limitations which would cause lot of trouble and headaches if not implemented or be a reason why not to go for Rhino all the way.
I am writing this post because i dont see it on WIP7 list. Would this be implementable even for R6 in some update?
I want to flatten the attached surface. Rhino asks for curves to select. I made the shape with a boolean and not by trimming. Therefore i cannot selct curves and the surface does not develop.
What am i missing here?
(PS. Yes, I realize the blend trim is horribly ugly/potentially wrong and I should re-do and re-trim the entire surface, but I’m interested in this specific use case that I currently don’t know how to deal with in Rhino.)
I modelled some basic geometry object in other file close to origin then copied to clipboard then pasted into other file and moved it to its desired position far from origin.
It causes artifacts that displayed geometry and edges do not coincide.
I tried to delete one face of a polysurface and cap. After capping it started looking alright.
how is moving causing troubles but once object is modified suddenly its all right again. some regeneration process is in the background?
Is it a rhino internal bug or display bug related to drivers etc.
I made a closed curve (in this example a simple s curve) but I would like to increase the width without scaling the entire size up. Is there a tool that can redraw or trace the curve while adding an increase in width? I imagine it would have to constantly be perpendicular to the original curve.
In the examples I roughly added a bunch of lines 5 cm in length that come out perpendicular from the original curve. This way, the other curve has a path to follow, but I was sondering if there is a tool that does this automatically as the is an example and the actual project is far more complicated
Issue adding a radius to the side of the transom and hull of the vessel. radius is 1m. I am able to fillet the edge, however its very sloppy. The fullform is from maxsurf.
