Why does this happen? [Display not accurate]
The edges of my polysurface don’t coincide with the fill edges…
Why does this happen? Is it Rhino? Is it tolerance? Is it units? It is zooming? Is it my graphic card?
It only happens across this edge.

Increasing Ambient Occlusion Shadowing
I can darken them a little by changing the colour of the ambient light (in OPtions>ViewModes>SpecificViewMode>LIghting Scheme) to Black, and the colour of the shadows to black, but there’s of course no colour darker than that and I still find the shadows too subtle.
These are the only settings I can find to influence the darkness of the AO shadows.
Any suggestions?

Bug? Property Material not showing on 2nd monitor
Rhino is on the main monitor and Property window is on 2nd monitor. Properties-Material won’t show the list of materials. When clicking the down arrow, nothing happens. I have to move the property window to the main monitor, then it will show the list of materials.
The separate Materials window doesn’t have the same problem. Is this a bug? Or there’s hopefully something I’m missing, and it can be fixed?

Can I switch embedding off? I’ve noticed that Rhino generates these folders into my projects, which I don’t want nor need. Is this because it uses image files that are on a network storage?
The message itself is a bit silly as well. You are attempting… no: Rhino is attempting.
then the question: “Are you sure you really want to do this?” (feels like: you are about to something really stupid, that’s why we want to double check) …clicking the checkbox: ‘In the future, do not show me this dialog box’ (which is impossible anyway, but I assume it means next time) but then the option “No” gets grayed out.

The layer of an object changes to another layer before you know it
When I close the file and reopen it, one object moves to another layer and the material is different. Materials are assigned on an object-by-object or layer-by-layer basis. Is there any problem with this method?
Also, the renderer uses v-ray, but the v-ray settings are not saved no matter how many times I try. If you re-render many times, these problems will occur and you will waste time. Is there any workaround? Or does the trial version only have this kind of bug?

What tool Edits Solids with XYZ Grid Points?
Hi Experts,
I have used this tool many times, but can’t now recall the name of it. I would have thought “Box Edit” but this is just the plugin panel that allows objects to be edited in simple ways.
The tool works like this;
If you have any solid, you can set up a box grid in all 3 axes, around the solid. You can specify the number of points in XY and Z.
Once this box is set up, you can grab any number of points, and push, pull, stretch them in any direction to alter the shape of the solid, almost in an organic, or artistic fashion. What is this tool called ??
Also, is there a list of all Rhino tools available? I know the list would be long, but this would be good to have. I’d like to see what tools I’m unfamiliar with, all 3 billion of them. I use V4, yes, old, I know.

View capture constantly crashing
Trying to export some views from the model. I have managed to export a few but some views just keep crashing. I tried to update the drivers but no help.

Issues using surface from network of curves
I am currently trying to create the exterior surface using a network of curves however the end result distorts the surface to protrude further than the reference curves. I was just wondering if someone might be able to take the time to provide some feedback on some possible issues and solutions regarding this matter please.

Colors don't display in shaded mode
Hi,
Shaded mode won’t display surface colors. (It works in ghosted mode)
Display settings are set to defaults.
I tried activating/desactivating opengl harware acceleration, no change.
It happened suddenly a week ago, it is quite annoying for me…

Why cant you move around while PerspectiveMatch
Hello,
I am using Perspectivematch for the first time.
I am curious why you just can hit the point from the pic you are trying to match to, then orbit and zoom your model to click the corresponding point and then continuie with next points.
It says dont move around and start over with matching.
I dont understand it since first you click imaginary point in the “flat” pic and then you click actual point in the model which has coordinates.
In my case i need to zoom linework to be able to pick points accurately

Clipping plane "section like" view
Hi,
I find lipping plane view quite confusing sometimes as it doesn’t display only the section. It shows the object behind the clipping plane as well:
I would prefer to see this:
The only way I found is to superpose 2 clipping plane with opposite directions.
Is there a simpler way?

Rhino showing "Please Wait… Updating toolbars” splash at start
Hi,
I am experiencing exactly the same as in this thread but on Rhino 6.
Started happening after recent update.
Rhino 6 SR30 2020-9-29 (Rhino 6, 6.30.20273.13471
- Lunching Rhino as admin did not help.
- Checked C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\McNeel\Rhinoceros\6.0\UI folder and everything looks ok.

OrientOnSrf needs a better UI
OrientOnSrf confuses new users completely (well, most of them)
- It’s not clear that the view where you pick the first point is also going to be the reference plane. It would be more clear if a reference plane was displayed while picking the two reference points.
- The copy option appears only at the very end of the command. Better it would be available right from the start and default to yes

Rhino 6 Educational crashing often
Hi all,
I’ve started my second year of my undergraduate architecture program and just recently I’ve had issues with my Rhino 6 crashing several times a day. It will almost exclusively occur when I am zoomed in and using the Rotate View tool that not only will Rhino crash, but my PC will restart. Immediately the screen will go black and my case and CPU fans will cut off, then it will turn itself back on within a couple seconds as if I had manually restarted my PC. Is this a hardware issue or something I can correct within Rhino? I have some information below that my help the community understand my situation.
PC Specs:
- Intel i5-4570
- Nvidia GTX 970 4GB
- ASRock Z87E-ITX
- 8GB Crucial Ballistix Sport VLP RAM
- Power Supply: XFX TS 550w
Additionally, the file I am working on is ~15 MB, I am most often working in the (rendered) perspective viewport, and my graphics settings in Rhino are set to 8x Antialiasing and GPU tessellation is enabled.

Oblique view trim WIP vs. V6
Hi I am using both WIP and V6 for my project. I found that the trim command works slightly differently in WIP/Beta. What has been changed? I am so used to (When in oblique view by using planar/non-planar curve) (1) draw a simple curve (2) select the curve (3) type in trim alias and (4) select the part I wanted to be gone.
I searched some threads here but didn’t find anything helpful yet.
